In this 12-hour workshop, Lori Overland takes you through a step-by-step approach to teaching clients tolerance of touch, enabling them to learn to eat and use oral-motor therapy tools.
The course is approved for both ASHA and AOTA CEUs (1.2 CEUs, self-study).
DVD rentals are for 30 days, with a one-week grace period to allow for shipping time. Additional charges may be incurred if the DVD is damaged or not returned on time.
Day one focuses on promoting acceptance of touch for feeding and oral exercises, with techniques incorporating a variety of textures, temperatures, and tastes.
Day two features hands-on learning of proper therapeutic techniques for spoon feeding, straw drinking, and chewing solid foods.
Learning Outcomes: -Become familiar with chronological acquisition of feeding skills; -Identify assessment concerns during the oral phase of feeding; -List at least four goals of an oral-motor/feeding program; -Apply at least four techniques to improve oral movement.
